February 9, 2020 @ 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Lady Magpie’s Steam-Powered Tea Room: Chocolate Tea, Heart-Shaped Scones, and Women’s Suffrage Celebration
The Tuckerton Seaport is happy to announce that after a month of hibernation, Lady Magpie’s Steam-Powered Tea Room will be back on its regular schedule with expanded offerings beginning Thursday, February 6th. Hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays are available by reservation only, 12 to 3 p.m. The month of February will feature a Valentine’s Day theme with lots of chocolate and heart-shaped treats. Reservations are recommended. Please call (609) 597-7550. Drop-ins are welcome as room allows. Please drop by during the tea room’s regular hours to learn about the Captain’s House and visit the exhibit on women’s suffrage in the parlor.
Bring your loved ones to the Captain’s House in February to enjoy the open fire atmosphere in the dining room and savor two new warm menu items: soup of the day with a mini savory scone and quiche. The room is also filled with New Jersey “firsts” that are fun to discover.
Join us on Sunday, February 9th from 12 to 3 p.m. (no reservations required) for a celebration of the 100th anniversary of New Jersey’s ratification of the 19th constitutional amendment that recognized women’s right to vote. New Jersey’s ratification was number 29 out of the 36 required. There will be ice cream in the parlor as you find out the connection between ice cream parlors and women’s suffrage. Read excerpts from Eleanor Price’ s diary to gain insight from local stories. The tearoom will also have its full menu available.
